The Revolutionists - December 5th, Faculty Night

Thursday, December 5th at 7:00 PM

Black Box Theatre, Maloney Hall

39 Ella Grasso Blvd

Event Policy: House opens at 6:45PM. Show begins promptly at 7:00PM. Late arrivals will be seated at the discretion of House Management. This event has a no refund policy. Parking is available in Welte parking garage adjacent to Maloney Hall. Late Arrivals: If you arrive after the show begins, there will be one opportunity for late seating. After that, no other late arrivals will be permitted to enter the theatre; you may, however, watch the live feed from the lobby. Thank you for your understanding. Note to faculty - if you take advantage of the faculty tickets and can no longer attend, please communicate this with either Sarah Atkinson or Christie Maturo. - This event has a no refund policy.

THE REVOLUTIONISTS is a tragicomedy (or maybe a comitragedy?) set during the Reign of Terror following the French Revolution. Writer Olympe de Gouges, desperate to contribute and make her mark, struggles to save the Revolution from the men who are screwing it up. Help arrives in the surprising forms of a spy fighting on behalf of Haitian freedom, an assassin desperate for a good line, and even the former Queen of France who is just trying to make sense of change. Together these four women will use words, knives, tons of ribbons, and incredible courage to take on the misogynistic patriarchy of the French Assembly. They will challenge the notion of revolution itself, and they will tackle the question of whether art can truly make a difference during a time of complete political chaos.
